CPC is committed to a victim-centered approach to treating sex offenders. Our RULE treatment program helps our clients work to understand and take responsibility for the harm they have caused their victims, their families and the community. We hold Restorative Justice as a foundational philosophy.
(To be read out loud by a group member)
Our crimes have had an impact on our victims, their families, our families and our community. None of these people deserved the hurt we caused them. We may never have the opportunity to express to our victims the guilt, remorse and shame we feel for harming them in the ways that we did, but we are learning to accept responsibility for hurting these people by participating fully in our treatment and our own healing. We may make amends for our crimes through changing our behavior, leading productive lives and serving our community. We can find ways to give back to the victims of sex crimes as a way of showing our sincere regret for our actions. We will now observe a moment of silence for our victims, after which a basket will be passed around the room, giving us an opportunity to contribute something to our Survivors fund, which will go directly to victims of sex crimes.
